THE NEWPORT EFFECT chronicles the history of the renowned Newport Folk Festival© and its profound impact on the world of folk music. Started in 1959, and infamous as the place where Bob Dylan "went electric," the event laid the foundation for contemporary music festivals and has had a far-reaching and lasting "effect" that is still going strong. The film features interviews, performances and explores the rich legacy of the festival, from social activism to launching the careers of new artists to showcasing a wide range of music genres.
